New to the Washington, D.C. area, Michael "Mig" Mrizek is a current MFA Game Design candidate at American University. His work in the program is driven through his wonderment for lighting and environment design. He started his career as a theatrical lighting designer and electrician after graduating Seattle University in 2018. During this experience he has found a passion for creative leadership and helping to produce artistic projects. This brought him to American University where he continues to apply these skills in the world of game design.
His most recent theatrical design credits include The Misanthrope with Seattle University, Office Hour with ArtsWest, and Bridge Project with Velocity Dance Center. He has also worked as an assistant lighting designer, electrician, and light board programmer on many shows (theatrical and dance) throughout Seattle with companies like Whim W'Him, Alice Gosti, and KT Niehoff, Seattle Shakes, Book-it Rep, and Seattle Public Theatre. Outside of his design work, he was the Technical Director and Associate Venue Manager at the West of Lenin theatre in Seattle's Fremont Neighborhood before moving to D.C.
