Michael "Mig" Mrizek is currently a third year Games and Interactive Media MFA candidate at American University. His work in the program is driven by creating a sense of wonderment for lighting and environmental design. He started his career as a theatrical lighting designer and electrician after graduating from Seattle University in 2018. During these experiences, he has found a passion for leadership in creative spaces and doing everything he can to produce artistic projects. He looks forward to continuing to apply these skills as he begins his career in game development.
His most recent theatrical design credits include The Misanthrope with Seattle University, Office Hour with ArtsWest, and Bridge Project with Velocity Dance Center. He has also worked as an assistant lighting designer, electrician, and light board programmer on many shows (theatrical and dance) throughout Seattle with companies like Whim W'Him, Alice Gosti, and KT Niehoff, Seattle Shakes, Book-it Rep, and Seattle Public Theatre. Outside of his design work, he was the Technical Director and Associate Venue Manager at the West of Lenin theatre in Seattle's Fremont Neighborhood before moving to D.C.
