Homeward Bound is a 2D adventure exploration game of a ship lost at sea. The narrative follows the ship's captain grappling with being adrift only wanting to reunite with his beloved wife. The vessel carries a cargo of fireworks when launched into the sky transform into celestial markers, illuminating the night sky aiding in navigation across the darkened ocean. This project was created as a submission for the Global Game Jam in January 2021 at the American University Jam Site. The team was predominantly comprised of first year game design students.
